Bent On Learning’s Yoga Teacher Training Program prepares participants to teach yoga to diverse populations of children in a school environment. Building upon a solid foundation of yoga and/or teaching experience, the Bent On Learning Teacher Training Program assists participants in developing further knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to become caring and effective yoga teachers in the ever-changing classroom. Participants will explore their personal motivations for teaching, understand the needs of students and schools, learn classroom management techniques, write lesson plans and practice teaching Bent On Learning’s yoga curriculum for primary, middle and high school students.
Bent On Learning Foundations Course
- Learn about Bent On Learning’s history and experience, our relationship with schools and yoga’s place in education
- Explore and uncover your own passion and motivation for teaching via self-inquiry, provocative group discussion and review of required reading
- Understand common issues that arise when working with children in the classroom; gain tools for building attention, emotional regulation and empathy in students
- Unpack the 3 components of every class: the self, the student and the subject
- Self: Explore and uncover your own passion and motivation for teaching via self-inquiry, provocative group discussion and review of required readings
- Student: Understand common issues that arise when working with children in the classroom; gain tools for building attention, responsibility, emotional regulation and empathy in students
- Subject: Learn Bent On Learning’s yoga curriculum, class structure and method of teaching yoga
- Includes Guest Lecture Series with experts on: classroom management, the science behind yoga and learning based on developmental anatomy, working with special needs students and diverse populations
