Budding Yogis Teaching Yoga to Kids 20-hour Certification

About the Budding Yogis Certification

The Budding Yogis Certification (BYC) is based on our unique philosophy of teaching yoga and mindfulness to kids in a way that stretches their imaginations, offers them non-competitive opportunities to play, and teaches them how to relax.  What make Budding Yogis unique is our emphasis on mindfulness and the way in which it can be incorporated into children’s yoga and their everyday lives.  With our combined experience of over 20 years teaching children’s yoga, our BYC enables us to offer what we believe is the highest level of teaching yoga and mindfulness to children.

For the past 10 years we have been training hundreds of teachers through our 20 hour certification.  Participants learn how to teach yoga classes for kids ages 2-12 with age appropriate yoga poses and activities, how to create theme-based yoga classes, and how to use self-calming, meditation and mindfulness techniques to help kids calm their bodies and minds.  At the end of the 20 hours, trainees will prepared to start their teaching journey and will have the opportunity to practice teach a group of children.

Who should take the training?

  • A parent who would like to share your yoga practice with your family
  • An educator looking for an active and fun way to connect with your students and help them focus
  • A child psychologist or therapist interested in learning new techniques to reduce anxiety in your clients
  • A yoga teacher who enjoys working with kids
  • Anyone else interested in using yoga to help nurture and support children.

What Some of Our Trainees Say

“I learned so much from the training that I was able to use in my homeroom classroom with my pre-K children. I now work full time as a children’s yoga instructor at an inner city charter school in DC. [Teaching] children’s yoga is the best job a person could have.” – Lili, charter school teacher

“What was most helpful about the Budding Yogis’ training was learning specifically what to do with different age groups, and having the opportunity to teach and observe live kids! I would highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to bring children and families the gift of yoga.” – Lauren, psychologist

“Budding Yogis’ training gave me the confidence to allow my potential to shine. Linda and Annie present an approach that is joyful and loving, creative yet organized. I now teach my own kids yoga classes from ages 5-13 and have so much fun. The kids keep coming back and I never forget what an inspiration the Budding Yogis training has been to me.” – Shauna, music teacher and kid’s yoga teacher

“I learned a ton about teaching mindfulness to children and now incorporate songs, discussion, games, and listening activities daily into my second grade classroom. The response in the community has been huge. Children, co-workers, and parents are very open to the idea of mindfulness and how to incorporate it into their lives! The yoga classes I teach have also benefited a great deal, as I learned more about developing child-centered yoga classes and leading savasana for young children.” –Abbey, second grade teacher

“What’s special about the Budding Yogis Teacher Training is that it brings out the soul of yoga, going beyond the physical poses and yoga games. It helps bring out the special quality of mindfulness, of slowing down, going inward, being aware of our feelings, our unique qualities, our connection and respect for ourselves and each other with the kids we engage in our classes. Beyond that it has empowered me to jump in and schedule family yoga workshops, which have turned out to be a blast.” – Carol, Registered Yoga Teacher
