Module 2 provides playful engaging tools to support children ages 3-12 with self-regulation and acceptance; navigation of emotions; sensitivity to diversity; and widening the gap between impulse and action. Based on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Missy will introduce multi-sensory approaches to teaching and learning to support you in meeting kids exactly where they are physically, socially and emotionally.
Experience the efficacy of “Deep Play” throughout our weekend and leave overflowing with adaptable, recreatable strategies that are steeped in science and delivered through play.
Course objectives include delving into the science of yoga and how its practice can benefit kids; exploring the body mind connection through mindful movement; trauma sensitivity; and understanding the importance of our own self-care as we care for others.
Missy Brown E-RYT, RCYT, YACEP, has dedicated her life and career path to supporting people of all ages to explore, embrace, discover or rediscover their true limitless self. One child at a time, one breath at a time. Using her skills of creativity and playfulness, Missy fosters experiences where mindfulness and body centered practices are explored with a sense of humor, joy and open hearted authenticity. She holds many certifications, has created 5 original children’s products and is the founder and president of Deep Play for Kids (DPK). Missy’s life curriculum and deep love of learning are some of what makes DPK unique, authentic and adaptable. Missy continues to be gratefully inspired by the guidance of her many mentors as well as the lessons she learns from her students who are her best teachers. She is the proud momma of 3 amazing sons, 2 delicious granddaughters, and several other sons and daughters. She resides in CT with her beloved partner Joe and numerous 4 legged furry family members. Her unwavering belief in people’s innate goodness allows her to vibrantly be in the fullness of life with humility and grace. She truly wakes each morning with humble gratitude for all that lies ahead. Her love of family, friends, cooking, nature and being of service keep her heart overflowing. Missy carries the honor of her Sanskrit given name Maitri – referring to her goodwill, benevolent, compassion, friendly loving kindness to others. She has been lovingly compared to The Pied Piper and Mary Poppins, and that hearing her voice or connecting with her exchanges evokes calm, grace, and presence. A sense of being seen, heard, feeling safe with full permission to be met exactly where they are, as they are.
