Sarah Herrington, MFA, ERYT, YACEP, is a leader in youth yoga education, poet and author. She is the founder and lead facilitator of OM Schooled teacher trainings, which grew out of her work as a full-time on-staff yoga teacher and curriculum developer in a NYC charter school. Beginning in 2007, Sarah led 5-7 kids classes a day, 5 days a week to children during the school day. In inclusive classrooms she developed tools of class structure, developmental and learning-style specific tools and ways to combine classroom management with yoga to enrich young yogis’ lives. She is now an advocate for kids yoga, yoga in schools, and specializes in training others to share yoga with youth.
In addition to leading OM Schooled, Sarah teaches yoga for youth in the Yoga, Mindfulness and Social Change program at Loyola Marymount University, where she is helping to develop the first Master of Arts in Yoga Studies in North America. She has written about yoga for the New York Times Anxiety column, New York Times OpEd page, Yoga Journal, Mindbodygreen, Poets and Writers Magazine, and is the author of OM Schooled: A Guide to Teaching Kids Yoga in Real-World Schools, Essential Yoga, the Idiot’s Guide to Yoga and co-author of Wanderlust: Find Your True North.
She deeply believes in the healing power of yoga and creativity, and loves to share tools with other teachers. She divides her time between Los Angeles and New York City.
